| Thank you to the Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response as they officially opened the County’s new Live Fire Training Building today at the Emergency Response Campus, located at 392 Creek Road in Hyde Park.
This three-story modular training structure gives local firefighters a unique opportunity to practice in a variety of live burn scenarios. Built from reinforced shipping containers, the facility features movable wall partitions that can be rearranged to simulate realistic interior layouts such as hallways, rooms, and other complex environments. This flexibility allows firefighters to prepare for a wide range of challenges they may face during emergencies.
The new facility also offers specialized training props and features, including a rappelling tower, a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) maze, a rebar cutting prop, a pitched roof prop, forced-entry doors, standpipe connections, and more. These additions enable firefighters to gain hands-on experience with confined space operations, hose deployment, forcible entry, search and rescue, ventilation, and high-angle rope rescue scenarios.
These state-of-the-art training opportunities are designed to help Dutchess County firefighters develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to serve and protect their communities safely and effectively well into the future.
