The Pleasant Valley Fire District held their first-ever Inspection and Awards Dinner on January 25, 2025. The Chiefs and Officers were all installed and outstanding accomplishments in 2024 were recognised.
Chief John Cronk was installed as District Chief, Chief Ray Broas was installed as 1st Assistant Chief and Chief Mark Luby was installed as 2nd Assistant Chief.
Chief John Cronk and Firefighter Eddie See were awarded the fire district's highest award, the Valor Award for their life saving actions at a mutual aid house fire in October. Firefighters Patrick McKeever and Chase Russell were awarded a Bravery Award for their live saving actions at the same house fire.
Unit Citations for the same fire were awarded to: Assistant Chief John Cronk, Firefighter Eddie See, Firefighter Patrick McKeever, Firefighter Chase Russell, Firefighter/EMT Kelsie Nau, Lieutenant/EMT Brendan Kane, Captain Kenneth Wallace, EMS Captain/EMT Zachary Ferris, Firefighter Aiden Drum, Firefighter/EMT Wayne Sauer, Firefighter Rebecca Callaghan, Firefighter Jay Meyer, Past District Chief Bryan Corns, Firefighter Billy Cummings, Past Assistant Chief Jeff Cady and Past Assistant Chief Mark Luby.
In addition, Unit Citations for a serious MVA with entrapment were awarded to: Past Chief Rich Berger, Captain John Baxter, Assistant Chief Ray Broas, Firefighter James Cahill, Firefighter Chloe Camburn, District Chief Mike Cosenza, Firefighter Justin Drum, Firefighter Abby Elliott, Lieutenant Ken Elliott, Firefighter Ryan Figliozzi, Firefighter Scott Freeman, ESS Captain Wayne Gruntler, Firefighter John Hopper/EMT, Firefighter Chase Russell, Firefighter/EMT Wayne Sauer, Firefighter/EMT Ryan Schmelz, Lieutenant Trevor Simoni and Lieutenant Steve Tarantino
