The National Weather Service in Albany, NY has declared March 14 – March 18, 2022, as Flood Safety Awareness Week.
Sheriff Kirk A. Imperati said, “We recognize that flooding is a real hazard in Dutchess County. Hurricanes, tropical storms, and severe thunderstorms all have the potential to cause dangerous and damaging floods in our communities. Recently when the remnants of Hurricane Ida struck, we saw Dutchess County roadways, bridges, houses, and businesses sustain major damage from flood waters.”
“The Sheriff’s Office works closely with the Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response, Dutchess County Department of Public Works, and the Dutchess County Executive’s Office to proactively prepare, respond, recover and mitigate the threat of flooding in Dutchess County”, said Sheriff Imperati.
All residents are urged to be prepared for flooding and other natural disasters. Residents should always heed Watches and Warnings issued by the National Weather Service. |
