SERIOUS CAR ACCIDENT SHUTS DOWN ROADWAY

Pleasant Valley Fire District firefighters and EMT's were called into action at 5:15 PM Saturday when two vehicles collided near 2448 Route 44 in Washington Hollow. Initial reports were of a property damage auto accident with no injuries, and New York State Police responded to manage the incident.

The call was quickly upgraded when the driver of one of the vehicles collapsed. New York State Police immediately began life saving measures and Millbrook Fire Department Paramedic Ambulance was requested to respond. Arriving Pleasant Valley Fire District personnel assisted with patient care and Millbrook’s ambulance transported the patient to a local trauma center. The occupants of the other vehicle were evaluated at the scene by Pleasant Valley EMT's and reported no injuries.

The roadway was shut down during the incident for the safety of emergency responders and to facilitate removal of the vehicles. All personnel were back in service and the roadway was reopened by 6 PM. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to contact the New York State Police.
