Fire Service - It's A Family Affair

July 12, 2024

As FDNY Fire Chief Edward Croker said in 1908. "When a man becomes a firefighter, his greatest act of bravery has been accomplished".

In some families, being a member of the Pleasant Valley Fire District is kind of like the "family business".

Recently, Probationary Firefighter Daniel Cronk became a member of the Pleasant Valley Fire District. What makes this so special is that Probationary Firefighter Daniel Cronk is the fifth generation member of the Fire District.

His father John is the current 1st Assistant Chief and his grandfather Butch is an active 50-year member of the company.

His great great-grandfather Past Chief George Cady, Great-grandfather Past Captain John Mann, Great-uncle Past Chief Mike Cady and Great-uncle and Past Commissioner Don Cady all were smiling and watching proudly from above in the heavens as the next generation stepped up to help the residents of the Pleasant Valley Fire District.

Congratulations!
