Families often use this three-day weekend as an opportunity to host backyard cookouts or spend the day at the beach to kick off the summer season.

Memorial Day, however, is also a designated day of remembrance for U.S. military personnel and intended to honor those who've given their lives in service to their country.

However you choose to spend Memorial Day this year, take a moment to remember the members of the U.S. military that never made it home.

The Town of Pleasant Valley will be holding their annual Memorial Day ceremony at the Pleasant Valley Veterans War Memorial at the Mill Site park at 11:00 AM.

In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the upstairs meeting room at the firehouse. Everyone is encouraged to attend.
