Possible Flood & Wind Advisory From Pleasant Valley Highway Superintendent John Baxter

January 9, 2024

**Weather Update***
As of 0745

Good Morning! Here is the latest prediction on what is heading our way.

Precipitation will begin this afternoon, likely around 2PM as all rain. It will continue through Wednesday morning, with rainfall of 1.50
- 2.00" likely. We could see up to 3 - 4" locally.

Winds also increase this evening after 7PM, reaching speeds of 20 - 30 mph, with gusts of 45 - 55 mph possible. Those should taper off after 4AM Wednesday, but we'll likely have a second round of winds through the day on Wednesday as they shift northwesterly at 10 - 16 mph. Some gusts may reach up to 35 - 40 MPH.

Please stay safe. Don't cross or drive on flooded roads. Stay away from all downed power lines.

A mere 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock over an adult. It takes just 12 inches of rushing water to carry away most cars and just 2 feet of rushing water can carry away SUVs and trucks.
